The Rebbe told a number of people to read through the entire Bible during the days of Elul, the Ten Days of Repentance and the Days of Awe until Hoshana Rabbah . 348 Hoshana Rabbah is the last of the intermediate days of Sukkot, the final day of judgment ( Yerushalmi , Rosh HaShanah 4:8; Zohar II, 142a; ibid., III, 32a; Rokeach 221a; Ramban on Numbers 14:9; Sefer Chasidim 453.

The Rebbe himself did this several times. He finished a number of other works during this period, but I don’t remember which ones.
